Iām Jasmine Jade, an independent singer-songwriter based in Geelong, Victoria (Australia).
Iāve always loved to sing, and lyric writing has always been a deeply personal way for me to identify and process my emotions. Everything I write comes from the heart, and that vulnerability is what I breathe into my music.

What made you want to do music?
āI always knew when she was awake, because I could hear her singingā - My Mum
Iāve pretty much been singing since I could talk, but I didnāt start playing the piano until high school, which is also when I started songwriting. After a few years of not really enjoying lessons, I gave up and started teaching myself guitar (which I am definitely no pro at).
I stopped music completely after a string of toxic relationships. Somewhere along the way, Iād lost my sense of self.
I started playing piano again in 2022, after my life changed in a way Iād never expected. By that point, I had to teach myself all over again.
I play however and whatever feels natural to me. I donāt play in a fully traditional way, and I think thatās part of what makes it unique.

What inspires your creative process?
I am someone who has always felt things very deeply, and thatās something that naturally finds its way into my lyrics, my music, and the way I perform.
Most of the time, I start with lyrics. I have a lot in my mind and a lot to say, so it usually comes out as word vomit on the page, which later turns into something resembling a song. Other days, Iāll just sit at my piano feeling my feelings, playing random notes until I stumble across some abstract chord that somehow fits exactly the feeling Iām having in the moment. From there, lyrics often just flow.
The greatest thing about being a creative is there are no rules!
Musical influences?
I grew up loving country and heavy metalā¦ RANDOM! I knowā¦
These days, I love listening to stripped-back and acoustic versions of songs. Honestly, Iāll listen to pretty much any genre - Iām just a huge lyric buff.
Country music has definitely shaped the undertones of my voice, while the stripped-back side of music is very much the way I like to write and perform.
What do you like to write about?
Absolutely anything I feel I want to say or feelings I havenāt quite finished processing. Sometimes Iāll write a song about something that happened 10 years ago and just let it come out as it needs to.
I am no stranger to toxic relationships and breakupsā¦ so youāll often hear me pouring my heart out about it.
Iāve also had a lot of personal experience with mental health, which I also like to write about. I think itās important for these things to be talked about. Mental health can still be so stigmatised and feel like such a taboo topic.
Being able to be vulnerable about my ongoing experiences with it is so empowering. Not just for me, but for other people who might be feeling similar things.
What I hope you find in my music:
A place to feel seen. Heard. Validated.
A place where your emotions can be felt and held - where thereās room for the whole, messy, beautiful spectrum of being human.
A place to let go. To feel what you need to feel. To know that itās okay not to be okay.
A place of growth. Healing. Love.
Sooo whatās next?
Honestly, I make my music for me, and when other people love it and relate to it, itās such a bonus.
āØAs long as I love what Iām doing, Iām just along for the ride of life!
